Dr. George W. Austin

January 15, 1873 – October 24, 1926

Born in 1873, Dr. George W. Austin came to Chickasha in 1914 to become the President of the Oklahoma College for Women (OCW). He served in that leadership position until he suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 55. At his death, flags were lowered and businesses closed to attend funeral services for the beloved President. Austin Hall at OCW (USAO) was named in memory of Dr. Austin.
